Pre-Season Review 2019/20

Caradon Hockey Club are looking forward to the start of the season, with fixtures for all seven teams on Saturday 28th September.
It is an exciting time for the club as it continues to grow as is evident in the addition of the new men’s third team who make their debut in South West 2 league this weekend. They begin their campaign with a home game at Lux Park against OPM B at midday and look to introduce the up and coming youngsters to their first taste of senior hockey, with goalkeeper Toby Riddle taking on captain duties.
Their two other men’s teams Caradon and Caradon A will also be facing new challenges following both team’s promotions last year. Caradon A take a short trip across the Tamar to face PGSOB B at Marjons University, their first fixture in South West 1. Caradon’s top men’s team were promoted as undefeated champions so go into Southern 1 with plenty of confidence, especially following an impressive pre-season win of the County Tournament in Truro. They welcome Marjon B to Lux Park for a 1.30pm push back.
Caradon boast four strong ladies teams who play across three of the West Clubs Women’s Hockey League, offering senior hockey at different but equally competitive levels. The third and fourth teams both compete in Trelawney 2 and face each other in the season’s first fixture, both teams improved on their league standings last year and look to push further up the table in 2019/20.
The ladies second team have a new captain this season in Zoe Harris, as she looks to take the team into the top half of Trelawney 1 following their best run in the league last year. They play Plymouth Marjon 3 at Lux Park. Last but not least, Caradon ladies first team hit the road with their first fixture, travelling to Tiverton to face White Eagles. The home and away games of this fixture last year were high scoring and as Caradon finished last season scoring the most goals in South Division, they will be looking to equal if not better that stat this year.
