2023/24 Season So Far
Posted by Molly Walsh on 23 October 2023
We are coming up to the first break in the league season following this weekend's game so it's a good time to share how the club is getting on.
A quick summary of the senior teams starts to the season:
The men's 1st team have had a very strong start with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss securing them 4th place in the table and a very strong goal difference.
The men's 2nd team have also had a good start with 3 wins and 1 loss, holding 2nd in the table.
The ladie's 1st team have started their campaign in the West Premier League, a strong start holding the recently demoted team to a draw in the first game of the season, followed by 3 losses. Still finding their feet in the new league, there has been lots of development and the points will start to come. Currently sitting at 11th in the league.
The ladie's 2nd team have had the strongest start of all of our senior teams with 4 wins from 4 games. This very motivated squad of players are sitting at the top of their league with a strong goal difference.
The ladie's 3rd team are doing well in the same league, with 1 win and 3 losses so far they are sitting comfortably at 6th in the league.
The ladie's 4th team have 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss under their belts which currently sits them 4th place in their league.
A good first few weeks all in all for the senior squads of the club.
The juniors have also started very strong: the U12 boys recently visited Truro school for their county tournament and won 4 out of their 5 games! Prior to that the U14 girls were in Penzance showcasing some excellent hockey, although coming away with 1 draw and 3 losses the progressive performances and goals that were scored made the day worth it. The U10's team were in Penzance on the same day and remained unbeaten with 5 wins and 1 draw! The U12 girls first tournament was at home at Lux Park in some dodgy weather conditions but again they showed great spirit and displayed some great hockey. The U16 girls did well in their first county tournament in Penzance taking on two experienced sides in Falmouth and Penzance and once again showcasing some excellent hockey and promise for the future.
The commitment and progression of our juniors is always something that the club is proud of and we look forward to all of these individuals developing through the ranks all the way through to senior hockey!
