End of Season Presentation 2019/20
Posted by Helen Manley on 4 September 2020
Caradon Hockey Club held their End of Season review virtually last week, following the cancellation of their annual event at St Mellion, due to the Covid19 pandemic.
The 2019/20 season, despite being finished early in March, was another successful year for the Club – especially the Ladies 3s who gained promotion to Trelawney Division 1. Under England Hockey guidance, the new season is proposed to start a month later with the first league games being played on Saturday 24th October. Caradon started their training at Lux Park last week, following the correct Covid advice and everyone was delighted to be back on the pitch.
The End of Season event was celebrated with a series of daily videos posted to the Club’s YouTube channel, with each captain giving their speech and review of their season and the announcement of the Most Improved Player and Players’ Player as voted for by the team. There also followed speeches from outgoing Chair Shelley Lockett who revealed the Committee Cup winner – Jeanette Turpin for her incredible fundraising efforts for the Club, Best Defence – the Ladies 3s team and Top Goalscorer was Bizzie Dinnis with 27 goals for the season; while Club President Jan Woodman announced the Club Person of the Year as Helen Manley for her work behind the scenes in promoting the club across social and printed media and keeping the club ‘virtually’ active during lockdown.
Caradon are looking forward to the new season, new challenges off and on the pitch as they aim to return to hockey safely during this time. With the fixtures out and training already begun, they are keen to start where they all finished off with winning ways.
