End of Season & 10th Anniversary Gala 2018

With very special guest, gold medal hockey Olympian Kate Richardson-Walsh OBE in attendance, it was made an extra special night to celebrate the club's achievements in the 2017/18 season as well as their 10 year landmark since Saltash Essanians and Liskeard Looe clubs merged to form Caradon.
The evening started with welcome drinks and displays of photos through the years and the club's impressive milestones since 2007 including league promotions, cup wins and club awards. There were also representatives present from the charities Caradon are raising money for this year as part of their 10-4-10 charity campaign.
With club members, former Caradon team mates, families and associates of the club present, the dinner tables were full to capacity as everyone sat down to enjoy a two course meal. The traditional game of Heads and Tails took place much to the enjoyment of the room, as Ben Hedley won the special prize on offer donated by England Hockey - a pair of tickets to the Hockey World Cup in London this summer.
The room then fell silent and captivated as hockey legend Kate gave an entertaining and inspiring speech, which moved and motivated the audience as they watched a video of her incredible moments on the pitch including that golden night in Rio. Kate went above and beyond on the night, staying on for photos with the gold medal and almost everyone in attendance, happy to chat hockey until past midnight!
Following a full run down of Captain's season reports, Kate very kindly presented the awards with Caradon President, Jan Woodman. The awards were for Most Improved Player and Player's Player in each of the six senior teams, as well as top goalscorer, Club Personality and the Committee Cup - awarded to photographers Glen Rogers and Jon Harris who, come rain or shine, are always there on match day to get a record of the game - and have both done so for many years.
As the party went on well into the early hours, it was an unforgettable night as Caradon look forward to next season and what the next 10 years may bring.
