Caradon Hockey Club are celebrating after being handed a £750 donation from Persimmon Homes Cornwall.
The donation comes as part of Persimmon’s Healthy Communities scheme, which supports sportspeople under the age of 21. Every month sports clubs and individuals in each of Persimmon’s 30 operating areas receive donations of £750 – a total of £22,500.
Karen Dyer, of the club, said: “We’re thrilled to receive this generous donation. We are a thriving club with a growing membership. We’re completely self-funded so we have to work hard to cover our overheads, including bingo nights and supermarket bag packing. Donations like these from Persimmon are a huge boost.”
Daniel Heathcote, Director in charge at Persimmon Homes Cornwall, said: “Our Healthy Communities and Community Champions schemes have proved extremely successful. It’s a fantastic way for us to invest thousands of pounds into good causes within the county.
Caradon Hockey Club is an extremely successful club which is helping people of all ages to keep fit and have fun. We’re more than happy to support them with this donation.”
