Caradon Hockey Club win 2016 Cornwall Sports Awards – Adult Club of the Year.
The 2016 Cornwall Sports Awards, hosted by Cornwall Sports Partnership and sponsored by the University of Exeter, were held at the Headland Hotel Newquay on Friday 4th November. Caradon Hockey Club had been shortlisted for the Adult Club of the Year award but, against strong competition from a range of high profile sports clubs in the County, the outcome was far from certain. Cornwall Sports Partnership showed videos of the winners and interviews with club officials and players. When the results were announced the Caradon social media network was buzzing with the news and celebratory messages.
Interviewed after the event, Club Chair Carina Batten said:-
"This is a fantastic achievement of which the club can be immensely proud.
Hours of voluntary time go into making the club tick successfully and it is
literally thanks to every member, player, coach, parent and supporter as
they have all contributed to winning this award and I feel very privileged
to be part of such a wonderful club. There is a real buzz about Caradon at
the moment from the youth right up through the senior teams. There is
nothing better than to see so many happy faces turning up to training on a
Wednesday night and then proudly pulling on their club shirts for matches on
the weekend! We have teams made up of mums, dads, daughters and sons all
playing out on the field together and long may it continue! We always
welcome new people no matter what age or ability so please do come and pick
up a stick and find out what this award winning club can offer!
