Match Report |
Caradon Men's 2's welcomed Plymouth Lions 4's for a rescheduled pre-Christmas match. In the end we left with a well deserved 6-1 victory but didn't start off too brightly. We were evenly matched for the first 15 minutes with no goals scored before Martyn Bevins broke the deadlock with a well taken strike into the back board. However, a pass out of our defence was intercepted allowing the Lions Captain to stroll in and slot it past an isolated Toby Riddle. This pass incedentally won Tim Wright DotD... After this we managed to score 2 further goals in the first half but at no point did we feel comfortably in control. The goals came from Liam Champion whose incredible poise and grace bamboozled their keeper as he deftly smashed the ball home. Shortly after this Elliot Grange picked up a rebound from the keeper on his reverse side and smashed a tomahawk past the unprepared keeper. After a stern team talk from stellar coach Claire Poad we took control of the second half and at last settled and were in complete control. Goals came from a dancing Bevins who was unstoppable today and Ben P-R who returned a keeper clearance with interest sending a scorcher into the back board. Our final goal came shortly after Jake Horton struck a small lad with a brutal strike which was deemed dangerous but then seconds later Horton found himself in exactly the same position and this time bypassed the lad with a cracking strike into the goal. A shaky start but a solid finish by the team keeps us at the top of the table. MotM went to Liam Champion for being simply excellent.
