Match Report

After last weeks dominant performance, Caradon travelled to Bristol to play their university team.
With a 4pm start time, Caradon could have been forgiven for starting slowly but this was definitely not the case. Within 7 minutes, Caradon were 2-0 up after scoring from break away attacks. Bizzie Jeffery rounded the keeper following a perfect through ball and then Clare Mitchell finished on her reverse after Bristol were caught out playing a high defensive line.
Bristol continued this tactic which did allow them to have a numerical attacking advantage which created plenty of chances on goal but player of the match, Helen Delbridge, continued her good form and made some excellent saves.

The midfield of Molly Walsh, Hannah Bladon and Abbie Ingram broke down play well and set the hungry forwards free into the space that the uni students were leaving high up the pitch. Daisy Heal was next to capitalise when she tapped in a loose ball in the circle following a penalty corner.
Bristol continued to showcase their talent and pulled a goal back before half time and made the team talk that came even more focused.
Heal scored again from close range after good build up play almost straight from the restart. A goal that started from a defensive hit out. The ball was moved really well with good movement off the ball, 8 passes later and the ball was in the back of the net and celebrated by the whole team as it showcased what clinical hockey this team is capable of.
With the game now effectively over Caradon enjoyed lots of possession and with the energetic wing backs, Emma Gliddon and Daisy Hunn creating good overlaps it was a Gliddon drive and pass that was met by Jeffery to complete the scoring.
A great game of hockey played by both teams and well umpired in the spirit of game made the long journey back to Cornwall worth it.
Thanks to Callington Community College for the loan of their mini bus which enables the team not only to travel together but reduces the travel expenses of the players.
Next week Caradon entertain another university team, Exeter.
