Men's 2nd XI Vs Duchy 3

A solid 6-2 win for the men's 2's against Duchy 3's today. On paper it should have been a lot easier for us today as it was a top of the table against bottom of the table clash but Duchy were definitely punching above their weight and took an early lead which was a real shock for Caradon. We drew level when Jon P-R slotted a reverse stick shot between the oncoming keeper's legs. Ben P-R added another shortly afterwards after a series of great passes between Ben and Mike Parkinson allowing Ben to slam the ball in from a tight angle. Martyn Bevins added our 3rd with typical panache giving the keeper no hope. At half-time we aimed to come out all guns blazing and add several more goals. This wasn't quite how it happened although we did manage to add 3 more. One from Bevins after a goal mouth scramble. One from Jon P-R with another reverse and a final one from Mike Parkinson from his highly effective trademark flick which slammed into the net and gave the keeper no chance. Duchy added a second goal after a soft interception. Sam P-R managed to get himself a green card for arguing and stick tackling earning himself DotD. We were denied a flick after the last defender took a ball to the stomach right in front of goal from a Jon P-R shot which nearly saw the skipper walking after a vehement 'discussion' with both umpires. Ted Dyer took another MotM for being supremely dependable in all areas! Not our best performance but another win that keeps us in top spot. Lots to work on but let's cling to the positives.
