Match Report |
Great result for the Men's 2's today against a reinforced Truro 5's. We came away with a 5-0 win which highlighted our dominance of the match. Truro never really looked like scoring thanks to brilliant defense. Tim Wright often the last man effortlessly removed the ball from would-be scorers. All areas of the team worked well in the first half, pressing well and shipping the ball around with ease allowing for 4 goals. The Truro keeper was competant but wasn't able to defend against accurate passing. Ben P-R scored first with great strike from an Elliot Grange interception which landed well for Ben and was put away. The second was a well worked team goal culminating in Jake Horton selflessly laying off the ball to Ben P-R for a straightforward finish. Liam Champion scored the third, again after a well worked team effort with Horton offloading in the perfect position allowing Liam time to place a flick past a shocked keeper. Martyn Bevins added another with a thunderous strike off a short corner that gave the opposition no chance. In the second half Truro regrouped and came at us with renewed enthusiasm highlighting skill from some of their promising youngsters. They kept us pinned down more effectively only allowing us 1 final goal. Ben P-R slipped the ball to Jon P-R in front of goal for an easy deflection. Great play from lots of team members today meant victory came because of team work and not individual brilliance. Man of the Match went to Jake Horton for selfless play and a massive work rate and DotD went to Thomas Turpin for slowly dribbling the ball off the back of the pitch at one end and running headlong into the goal post at the other end. A promising and positive team effort this week.
