Match Report

The men's 2's hosted Pz 3's today and pulled off a very satisfying victory. The game started brightly with several early attacks from Caradon which resulted in an early goal from Sam P-R who collected a short corner rebound and slotted the ball in. Not wanting to be outdone, moments later Ben P-R chased the Pz restart and confiscated the ball from their defence and smashed it into the top corner from just inside the D. Minutes later Mike Parkinson in his first game back after his awful knee injury managed to use Jedi mind control on the Pz goalie forcing him to kick the ball into his own goal from his cross... beautiful to watch. The Pz captain saw yellow after an aggressive tackle on Sam P-R and then instead of helping him up and checking if he was okay threw his stick towards him... Our fourth goal came from Sam P-R receiving a cross from his brother for a straightforward tap in. Martyn Bevins added our fifth and last of the half with a straight and powerful strike from a short. Somewhere in this half Pz managed to sneak one goal in.

The second half saw a much improved Pz team who moved the ball around well and utilised their skilful youngsters to put us under pressure. We had to wait until about 20 minutes in before our first of the second half when Liam Champion stepped into the D and smashed the ball into the backboard - a welcome return to the club. Ben P-R scored after this with a great solo effort skinning their team physio - (think that was his name) and despite being taken out by a very late kick managed to reverse stick strike the ball into the goal. Our final goal was a Bevins classic where he danced through the D beating several players and tying the keeper in knots before a glorious finish. Again we conceded a single goal in this half despite some great saves from Toby Riddle. We were comfortably in control from start to finish and really gelled as a team - it was a confident and commanding performance and hopefully shows great things to come this season. What a great team performance, Well done to all those who took part.
