Match Report |
A great match for the Men's 2's against a sub-par Duchy 2's in the Cup on Saturday. Caradon were fully in control from the first whistle, consistently bothering the Duchy defence and it didn't take long for Ben Reynolds to find the back of the net from a well worked goal after several linked passes. Ben P-R added to the tally shortly after this with a well timed strike beating a frustrated Duchy keeper. Sam P-R then popped in another one after scooping up a rebound from his own shot and slamming it home. The half ended 3-0 to Caradon. Duchy had a huge influx of new substitutes in the second half and this certainly changed the run of play for a while. Paul Rowe put in a huge shift in the match thwarting attacking moves time and time again eventually earning himself man of the match for his efforts. Other players in contention for this accolade were Freddie Seeva who showed his class on the wing confidently beating his opposite man on numerous occasions and Garry Mueller for tenacious play. Caradon regrouped after their shaky start to the second half and it wasn't long before Reynolds did all of the hard work and then slipped Jon P-R the ball for an easy tap in. Duchy did manage to claw one back converting one of their very few chances but this did not rattle Caradon who responded well when Sam P-R secured his second and our fifth to seal the victory. A very positive performance and a very well deserved result. Even our goalie... found it hard to say anything other than hugely positive things in our half time talk - wowzers. We march onwards in the Cup to face non-other than Truro 1's in the knock-out stage, who I am sure will be quaking in their boots when they hear that they have got to play us...
