Match Report |
Caradon started the game well, applying pressure to the Penzance defence from the whistle, leading to them being awarded a short corner within the opening minutes. It wasn’t long before the scoring opened for Caradon with captain Laura Hill finding the backboard after 5 minutes. This fired up Caradon’s attack and a tactical short corner deflection from player of the match Nicole Harding doubled their lead. Caradon continued to dominate possession and a third goal soon followed by a similar short corner routine from Katie Fear. Caradon held possession play within the opponents half, working around Penzance’s strong defence, leading to a fantastic effort from Abbie Fulford who added to Caradon’s lead, with a reverse lob of the goalkeeper which took Caradon into half time 4-0 up. Caradon continued to apply pressure in the second half, resulting in Laura Hill getting her second of the match. The Caradon defence responded well to spells of pressure from the Penzance attack, maintaining a clean sheet. Katie Fear then scored 2 more goals in quick succession, extending Caradon’s lead to 7-0 and earning her a well-deserved hat-trick.
