Caradon 2s were back at home this weekend, playing what is essentially their local derby against fourth placed Bodmin.
With a positive Captain's talk of possession and pressing for the first 15 minutes, the home side did exactly that and dominated the away goal area testing the goalie with some early and close shots.
After a few near misses, Lauren Gouge took a strike in the D and as it pinged off the post, Helen Manley was quickest to react to the rebound and slot it home.
Caradon were dominating and the second goal was a brilliant team effort of short, sharp passes up the field neatly finished by Katie Fear who snuck it under the keeper, 2-0.
Bodmin had a few counter attack opportunities with a strong and fast right winger who took the ball into the D and won a short off a foot, the striker at the top hit low and hard to make it 2-1 at the break.
The home side didn't change too much in the second half when it came to positions and subs but needed to use the right side more as it was open to forward attack. Seeing this gap, found Charlotte Harrison who effortlessly ran the line with more than one Bodmin player chasing her and failing to tackle, the ball went all the way into the D to the finished off brilliantly by Laura Hill, 3-1.
Bodmin's chances were kept to a minimum in the second half by excellent defending of the screen and player of the match Annie Williams, who also threw in some aerials to release the forwards to run onto.
The final goal of the afternoon came from Lauren Gouge, this time on the right. A Natalie Ridgers pass found it's way through a row of defenders, bringing the keeper out and with Lauren on the post she cool and calmly scored the fourth, 4-1.
The still unbeaten team travel to Truro next week, their final away day of this season, to face mid table St Austell who have been quietly climbing up the table and collecting points. Caradon can take their momentum and aim to get the job done.
