Match Report

High flying Caradon 2s were back at Lux Park on Saturday to face Truro 1. Although the visitors sit at the bottom of the table, Caradon know they can't take anything for granted in their pursuit for the league title.

The first couple of minutes were scrappy, Caradon needed to settle and find their feet and it wasn't long before they did settle following a goal by Helen Manley who took on the keeper and slotted home.

The home side then started to play the hockey they know and do well, passing to stick, passing into space and creating chances. In form Laura Hill joined the game and with her first touch scored the second as.only a striker knows how! The middle line and screen were working hard to stop the few chances Truro had, keeper Lynn Oxenham touched the ball once all afternoon.

After some determination a short was awarded and Laura stepped up again adding to her impressive tally this season to take the team 3-0 up at the break.

It wasn't long after the half time talk which included ideas about long balls and using the wings that one such wing ball was taken into the D with another short corner awarded as it hit a Truro foot. Utilising a different routine, a short ball was passed to Abi Fulford whose perfect shot found Helen Manley on the post was a deflection in.

The last two goals of the game were fantastic team efforts, building play from the mid and stretching the field, Katie Fear was back and grabbed the fourth. With only a few minutes to go the home side still weren't finished. Their continued hunger this season pushed them on to cause more havoc in the D, Laura Hill this time with a reverse hit assist to Natalie Ridgers on the post tucking it past the keeper. Final score 6-0.

Caradon clearly enjoyed that afternoon, once again taking the lead and running with it. This result adding to their 51 goal difference on the table. They have an early start next week at Marjons with a 9.30am pushback keen to get more points on the table early doors.
