Match Report | Caradon 4 - 5 St Austell Caradon started well with the ball spending the first 4 minutes in the St Austell half, unfortunately in the 5th minute St Austell broke and against the run of play scored to make it 0-1. With St Austell getting a bit more of the ball they went on to make it 0-2 on the 16th minute. With Caradon settling down Jo Maudsley managed to get what can only be described as an accidental assist after a miss hit shot went to an ever ready Rach Luiten who deflected the ball neatly into the goal making it 1-2 in the 27th minute. With the goal still in their minds and not on the game Caradon let St Austell go straight up to the other end to make it 1-3 no less than 60 seconds later. With a lot of vocal support for the home team and shouts to focus the Caradon ladies listened and Jo Maudsley neatly assisted Lynsey White who slotted home at the back post in the 33rd minute. After a team talk with invaluable input from Sharon Jeffery Caradon went out and within 3 minutes made it 3-3 with lovely work down the right from Kerenza Bunt who set up Jo Maudsley to push the ball past the keeper. Anna Gubbins and her defence worked hard to keep out St Austell but they managed to smash the ball into the net to make it 3-4 in the 47 min. With St Austell on the counter Lily Maudsley put her body ( and head ) on the line to not let another goal in and in the process took a stick to the fore head, in hindsight shouting “walk it off” might not have helped the situation. Not long after St Austell went on the make it 3-5 in the 62nd minute. Now down to a bare 11 and pushing for an equaliser Caradon gave it their all, and in the case of Jessica Eldridge maybe giving a little too much resulting in another injury and another player off the pitch. Battling on Lily Maudsley made her way back onto the pitch. Never a team to give up, Caradon 3s kept fighting and with more great work down the right Kerenza Bunt got her 2nd assist as she set up Lynsey White for her 2nd goal in the 67min making it 4-5. St Austell now sitting back letting Caradon apply the pressure but it was not meant to be with the final whistle going. I could not be prouder of this team as every single lady gave it their all, as always. Player went to Lila Johns for her relentless work up front and hounding the opposition not allowing them to settle at all. Donkey went to Lynsey White for showing a little more than she would like. Well down ladies. |
