Match Report |
Caradon took their 3rd trip to wales this season to take on Cardiff University.
With confidence high following last weeks win, Caradon started brightly and had the majority of the ball for the first 20 minutes. Jess Berry pounced on a poor clearance and unselfishly pass to Clare Mitchell who made no mistake with a reverse hit strike finding the backboard.
Makeshift forward, Mitchell, was finding good space in the circle and her disallowed 2nd goal was chalked off for a supposed foul in front of the keeper.
Cardiff showed signs of threat towards Caradon goal in the first half but some great saves by player of the match Helen Delbridge and goal line clearances by captain Amy Batty, kept the score at 1-0 at the half time break.
Cardiff came out with a different energy in the second half and Caradon struggled to match the tempo. Jules Butterworth made some crucial interceptions but the students quickly raced to a 2-1 lead.
Looking dejected for the first time this season, Caradon could not solve the problems that Cardiff were creating and were left chasing shadows. Feeling battered and bruised, Caradon simply couldn't create the one chance they were chasing and in the dying minutes Cardiff secured the win when their 3rd goal found past the resilient defenders.
Caradon will look to bounce back when they take on fellow league strugglers, Swindon, at Lux Park this Saturday.
The long travels this team are enduring is only made possible by the genius sponsorship by BOND TIMBER of which the club is extremely grateful.
