Women's 2nd XI Vs St Austell

Caradon 2s played with confidence and smiles on their faces as they stormed home to a sixth win on the bounce against St Austell at Lux Park.

Playing some lovely flowing hockey from the start, Caradon dominated the possession and it didn't feel like they would have to wait long for a goal. Awarded a short corner, Laura Hill's strike was saved by the goalkeeper but not quite cleared away and Helen Manley was quickest to react, it was scrappy but eventually got over the line.

The passing and triangle link ups amongst the team despite missing two regular players, was impressive to watch and it was these quick balls which moved them up the pitch to Abbie Fulford who struck home to make it 2-0 at the break. 

The half time talk was the captains asking for more of the same and it could have been a bigger scoreline if it wasn't for some great reaction saves from the St Austell goalkeeper. Player of the match Natalie Ridgers was strong in the variety of positions she played during the afternoon, setting up chances for the forwards and making a nuisance for the visiting defence. It was one such quick break where Katie Fear collected the ball and with a cool and calm attitude took the ball around the keeper for a 3-0 lead.

Laura Hill had been close all game for a goal, having one disallowed seemed to spur her on and what a goal she scored. A low and hard straight strike through the keeper from a short corner at the top of the D, was met by jubilant celebrations and the final whistle.

Caradon can take this confidence and the smiling faces down to Penzance next week as the team spirit continues to grow, sitting pretty at the top of Trelawney 1.
