Match Report

In what's considered the local derby, Caradon travelled to the Dragon Leisure Centre to face Bodmin on a bright Saturday morning.

Keen to continue their strong and confident start to the season, the 2s came out fighting from the start. With a few early chances, Caradon dominated the possession but couldn't quite find the backboard to ease any initial apprehension.

This was soon settled as Laura Hill found herself with the ball and despite an overcrowded D, her strong strike skipped past everyone including the Bodmin goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

This goal seemed to spur both sides on and it became a more end to end match as Bodmin were quick on their counter attack, levelling up the score just before half time after winning and converting a short corner.

The team talk gave Caradon a chance to reset and go back to how they played the first 20 minutes. They came out stronger, more confident and keen to break the deadlock.

The visitors were now fired up and were hungry for the lead. Helen Manley battled down the right hand side after a pass from Claire Brown and slipped a ball to Natalie Ridgers on the P spot whose controlled strike made it 2-1.

Shortly after, a well worked short corner routine which was won through player of the match Carina Hodge's hard work and determination, was picked up by Lauren Gouge who passed to a waiting Neve Hunn who slipped it passed the diving keeper.

Bodmin got a goal back and made the final 15 minutes a more defensive game for Caradon as they batted away every attempt to level the score - including a Claire Brown save on the line on her knees much to the appreciation of the team.

With the home sideline support getting fiesty and trying to get to Caradon, they did well to keep their heads and see out the whistle - finishing the game 3-2 to maintain their unbeaten run.

They welcome St Austell to Lux Park next week.
