Women's 1st XI Vs University of Bristol 1

Caradon entertained Bristol University in a Premier league fixture and despite the 0-5 score line, played some of their best hockey to date. 
Bristols' brought a full squad of 16 but it was Caradon who started the strongest. Linking play and attacking with confidence. They were unlucky not to open the scoring when the umpire judged the ball had not travelled the mandatory 5m before entering the circle and Daisy Heals quality finish counted for nothing. 
Libby Walsh was having a great game on the left of the pitch and her forward passes were met by forwards Jess Berry and Heal. Despite good chances on goal the ball refused to cross the line and Bristol would have been thankful to go into the break without conceding.

Caradon took half time to regroup but it was Bristol who came out the stronger in the second half. Showing thier experience at playing at this level they were much more direct and scored within 5 minutes of the restart. Caradon slightly imploded and before they knew it found themselves 4-0 down, proving how unforgiving this league can be when a team have a drop in levels if only for a moment. 
Caradon showed great discipline and continued to play to their strengths. Clare Mitchell and Abbi Ingram pushing the team forward but Bristols goal keeper was in good form and denied the deserved consolation goal. 
With the full time whistle blowed on a penalty corner, Bristol turned the screw and scored goal number five to give them a very flattering score line. 
Caradon are proving they can compete at this level even if the score lines do make uncomfortable reading, but they will need to show good resilience and continue to believe in their play. They now need to turn performances into points when they play teams in the lower half of the table.
