Match Report |
A bit of a funny one for the Men's 2's away against Bodmin 3's Development side. We travelled with a young (ish) team expecting a fairly comfortable result and probably as a result of this we did not really ever gel as a team. We had countless attacks in the first half which all came to nothing with final passes etc going astray. This then put us into a mild panic which did not help us at all. Shockingly Bodmin went ahead 1-0 just before half time. We struggled significantly against dangerous physical play and this coupled with umpiring that did not make any of us feel secure or indeed protected meant that we continued with poor cohesion throughout much of the second half. Fortunately through typical heroic play Joel Tamblyn equalled the score mid-way through the second half slotting the ball past an admittedly excellent Bodmin keeper. This revitalised the team a little and we were able to mount a few more dangerous attacks before former Bodmin star Carl Jeffery confidently navigated the field with the ball and passed to Sam P-R who drove for the baseline and then fired a tight angled flick into the Bodmin net. Final score was 2-1 to Caradon but definitely not our finest hour - meaning that it is back to the drawing board and plenty of things to work on in training. Some excellent performances today from Garry Mueller, Sam P-R and Joel Tamblyn but player of the match went to Toby Pickering who nearly scored his first league goal and was consistently in the right place at the right time and reliably came away with the ball in close play. Great to see how Toby has improved - a performance to be proud of.
