Match Report

Caradon 2s continued their fantastic start to the season with a third win on the bounce, with once again - goals aplenty.

Facing a youthful side, Marjons also had a few more experienced players with skill and stop so the home side started with caution. But it wasn't long before they were finding gaps and funs to get infront of goal.

Laura Hill in fine form grabbed the first of the day with a well worked movement around the keeper. This settled any pre-conceptions they may have had of the opposition and the first short corner of the day was won. A strike in the D was saved on the line but Helen Manley was quick to get her stick on the ball and eventually get it over the line.

Marjons had counter attack chances but the back line of Marcia Burgess, Nicole Harding, Annie Williams and returning from injury Claire Brown stood strong.

Hill was once again on the score sheet after a brilliant team goal which moved the ball beautifully up the pitch after a number of touches, Hill smashed home. Next up for some goal glory was Katie Fear who had been proving space for assists for the previous goals. A baseline run saw Katie alone on the penalty spot and she made sure, hitting the backboard low and hard.

Four nil up at half time and Caradon were almost on auto pilot. Passes were being met, training drills were being used in the game and everyone just clicked.

Also returning from injury, Natalie Ridgers was pressing forward with intimidating runs - once such run found Katie who slipped to Laura Hill for her hat trick. The favour was returned when Hill this time placed the ball on a plate for Katie to dodge the keeper for 7.

Carina Hodge and Lauren Gouge's battling and determination in the midfield resulted in a short corner, a strong hit from the top of the D by player of the match Katie Fear found Neve Hunn waiting on the post to put a belter past the flailing Marjon's goalkeeper.

But the yellows weren't quite finished and it seemed only fitting that the match would end as it started with Laura Hill bagged her fifth goal of the match in true style sneaking around the defence and keeper to the approval of the team and supporters.

Caradon 2s will see a visit from Plymouth University next week as they hope to maintain this winning run before a weekend break from the league thereafter.
