Match Report |
Caradon entertained Taunton Vale at Lux Park and despite playing some good hockey found themselves on the wrong side of a 3-0 result.
Caradon believed the home advantage would maybe mean getting some points on the board but Taunton were quick out of the blocks and had taken the lead within 10 minutes when they scored from a blistering counter attack.
Caradon heads dropped a little and struggled to find the confidence to attack and Tauntons aggressive style of play meant Caradon had to work hard to limit chances on goal. Taunton doubled their lead but this only seemed to encourage Caradon to play with more freedom. As the game reached half time Taunton were starting to be put under pressure and with the half time break allowing Caradon to regroup and re focus it was Caradon who had the first chance on goal in the second half. Player of the match Beth Harris intercepted play and linked well with Libby Walsh in midfield. Daisy Heals' determination was rewarded when her forwrd run and pass was as almost converted by Charlotte Harrison who had made up lots of ground to narrowly miss the target.
Caradon were now contesting the game in all areas but it was Taunton who won the head game. Turning the match into a bit of a scrap with professional fouls and verbal dominance, Caradon lost thier discipline and 4 players received cards of various colours resulting in Taunton to retain the ball and regain dominance. They scored their final goal to give them a flattering 3-0 win.
Caradon players will have learnt a lot from today and will contain to improve and gain valuable lessons as the season continues.
A trip to Bath awaits this this next week as they continue to hunt for valuable points.
