Match Report

Caradons Ladies 4th team faced off against Bodmin 2s at the Dragon leisure centre, and it was a good test for the shiny new 4s.

From the get-go, it was clear that Bodmin 2s meant business. Within a mere 30 seconds, they managed to slip one into the goal after exploiting a defensive miss-pass, and barely a minute later, they struck again. It was a tough start, but they weren't about to back down.

Showing resilience and determination, Caradon quickly regrouped. A fantastic build-up play saw Pippa Hedley delivering a perfect cross to Lauren Gerry in the D, resulting in the 4’s first glorious goal of the match – a sweet sound as the ball smacked into the backboard.

Pippa wasn't finished there; her assist during a short corner set up Amy White for another brilliant goal, reminding the team of their firepower. Throughout the game, they continued to dominate the Bodmin D, but despite valiant efforts from Pippa and Sarah Strevens, the elusive third goal remained just out of reach.

A special shoutout goes to the talented new junior players, Emily Eldridge, Jess Eldridge, Issy Carnell, and Olivia Sanders. They seamlessly integrated into the team, creating beautiful channels and making impressive runs into the D, opening up space for some stellar hockey action.

Man of the Match, Jess, took on the role of pivot for the first time and fearlessly protected the defence, leaving Bodmin attackers unable to find a winning goal. The 2:2 final score was a testament to the team's determination and resilience, and it's clear that more goals are on the horizon this season.

A big shoutout to the Caradon support who were on the sidelines, providing support that was louder than the home team fans. The enthusiasm was infectious, and it's clear all were eager and excited for what this season has in store for these ladies.

With this spirited performance, the 4th team has set the tone for an exciting season ahead.
