Match Report | Caradon ladies were on fire This weekend as the 3’s faced the 2’s in the first round of the cup competition. Both teams showed some impressive skills and entertained their friends and families who proudly watched from the sidelines. End result 4-0 to Caradon 2’s.
The 3’s intimated the 2’s in the first quarter and dominated play. Both teams looked sharp and held position making this an exciting game to watch. The first 2’s goal came in minute 24 from an impressive reverse stick aimed at the opposite corner. Shortly before the half time whistle seen a further goal.
One green card was issued and another player picked up a knock to the forehead. However this energetic game was filled with warmth and true Caradon team spirit.
An attacking short corner seen POM Carina Hodge set up the third goal. Both captains Claire Brown and Sharon Jeffery encouraged their teams to keep up the energy as they entered the last quarter.
POM Nicola Haigh blocked driving play down the centre and worked with her mid players to challenge attacking play. With four sets of sisters on one pitch and many other family connections the atmosphere at Lux Park was electric.
The final goal game in the 50th minute at a point the 2’s really had picked up pace and showed some high end hockey. The 3’s embraced the challenge which was perfect timing ahead of Duchy 1 the following weekend. All league games resume next Saturday so please keep an eye out for where the yellow shirts will be heading.
