Match Report |
Well...A 12-1 loss for the men's 2's today against an excellent Tavistock team. The bottom line is that we were thoroughly outplayed and Tavi deserved the victory. Hopefully they will feel brave enough to accept promotion this season. The main thing that we can all take away from the match today is the fact that we are a team with excellent team spirit. We did not give up and battled brilliantly in defence and put together some great attacking moves. Toby Riddle made a huge number of saves today and should be pleased with his performance. Mike Parkinson managed to bag us a consolation goal after a short corner shot was deflected back to him and he slotted it in behind the keeper, clearly showing the benefit of covering the far post! Sam P-R was taken out when bouncing the ball on his stick and making good ground only to have a player rush in from the side and drive the ball and his stick into Sam's neck. No malice, only a misinterpretation of the rules, however the player may have been lucky to escape with only a green card. Garry Mueller received Man of the Match for his tackling, effort and commitment. Mike Parkinson received a yellow card late on in the match for Superman style diving tackle, literally sweeping his man off his feet. A disappointing penultimate match but a really positive season.
