Match Report | A good victory for the Men's 2's today. We made it slightly harder work than necessary as we were unable to convert a few early chances and in fact ended up conceding the first goal. We were clearly the stronger team and continued to apply pressure until Freddie Seeva shot and it deflected back off the keeper to Ben P-R who calmly slotted it past the oncoming keeper. The next goal came from a short corner where Ted Dyer (who was striking the ball fantastically in the warm-up) received the ball at the edge of the D and drilled it into the back board, 2-1. The half-time talk consisted of the fact that we all needed to do what we had been doing but better... The second half saw Jon P-R score 2 goals, the first coming after an excellent saved shot from Garry Mueller landed well for Jon who squeezed it between the keeper and the post and the second from a brilliantly injected ball from Dyer saw a customary flailing dive from the captain. Penzance managed to get one back and did worry us on a couple of other occasions but we remained composed. Excellent play from Liam Champion saw him both attacking and defending superbly. Sadly, Tim Wright was injured in the first half and this may be his final match of the season. The only green card of the match was awarded to Liam Champion but this just points to great commitment rather than intent. On the whole it was a good-natured game and Ted Dyer was voted man of the match for another great performance. DotD again went unclaimed although one player did steal a bit of a junior players sausage and drink from another junior players glass but he shall remain nameless...for now. Needless to say, when we are all wearing our 'jackets' in a few weeks, perhaps we can discuss it. Well done today boys.
