Match Report | The ladies 3’s returned from Pool School with a respectful result against top of the table on the weekend. Final score 5-0 to Duchy 1st team. This was always set to be a challenging game but the pressure intensified as Caradon arrived unusually with only 11 players. With no subs to add fresh legs and energy to the game, the ladies worked incredibly hard against a fierce Cornish side. Fair to say this was not a one sided match however, as Caradon demonstrated attacking and skilful play throughout.
Into the second half seen an impressive pass across the D where a Duchy player was perfectly positioned to pop in the fifth goal. Caradon’s courageous back line kept out further attempts with Captain Sharon Jeffery right back and Rachel Luiten left back interrupting and blocking the majority of their attacking play. The ball moved quickly and Caradon players stepped up to challenge and disrupt this top of the table team. Player of the match Charlotte Harrison was instrumental in hindering Duchy’s attempts and was a key part in avoiding two further goals on defending short corners.
A Duchy sixth goal followed, the whistle blew and Caradon stepped off the pitch slightly exhausted but certainly not deflated. Top effort from the yellow shirts. The ladies 3’s take a well earned break next weekend and no doubt will come out strong again as they are soon to face Truro 1st team on home turf. |
