Women's 2nd XI Vs Marjons 3

Marjons 3 were Caradon 2s opposition at a home fixture at Lux Park. In the away game of this match up, Caradon let their lead slip and only came away with a point so were keen not to let this happen again.

They started strong and dominated the play, with a few first chances any initial nerves were settled as they looked fully in control. However, at times it felt like one of those games where chances came but they couldn't quite finish them off. This soon changed when on form striker Laura Hill got hold of the ball and forced the goalkeeper to the ground, with quick reactions she took the ball around the flat keeper and slotted home. 

Caradon were playing some lovely hockey, particularly impressive 1-2 passing up the wings and it was one such passage of play which got Caradon their second. A perfectly placed ball from Kirsty Merrin to Helen Manley ran the wing and passed the ball from the baseline to the penalty spot. It was met and touched onto Lauren Gouge infront of an empty goal to make it 2-0. 

In the second half Marjons took advantage of their young players on the wing and had a few more chances. One resulted in a short which was converted with a hard, low shot to make it 2-1.

But Caradon held on and could have had a further goal or two but finished the game with another 3 points. A break in the league next week means Caradon 2s face Newquay 2s in the Cornwall Cup.
