Caradon cruised to an 8-0 win against Plymouth University on Saturday, a win that secures thier spot at the top of the league.
After a stuttering first 15 minutes where the home team struggled to make the crucial team connections that had served them so well this season. It took a powerful run from right back, Emma Gliddon, to create the opener. Determined to get to the base line she provided the perfect pull back for Saffy Cripps to finish first time on her reverse.
This goal spurred the team on and they began to spread the ball from right to left leaving the Uni defence in a panic. Penalty corners have been working really well for Caradon recently and with several options available Caradon were clinical. Bizzie Dinnis converted 2 with Molly Walsh getting a perfectly placed drag flick.
Comfortable at half time, the team talk was on how to control the game more. Amy Batty was in total command at center back and organised her midfielders in front of her to prevent any real threat on the Caradon goal. Beth Harris had license to push further forward on the left and looked a real threat when play was switched quickly. Clare Mitchell had a player of the match performance, selflessly distributing the ball and was the catalyst for the continued attacking play.
Dinnis secured her hat trick early in the second half when her shot on goal found the top right corner. Walsh secured her hat trick with two more drag flicks, and younger sister Libby Walsh finished the scoring when finding the tightest of gaps to score from the top of the circle.
A much improved performance from last week gives the team confidence to continue thier good form when they take to the road to Bridgewater on Saturday.
