Match Report

Caradon 2s faced CSM at Lux Park on Saturday and despite getting lots of goals against this team in the away fixture, approached the game as if it was a new team they had no knowledge of.

The home side started strong, following up on some drills from that week's training session their quick passing and often one touch passing up the wings brought early opportunity. Laura Hill got her first of the day skillfully going around the keeper who couldn't get her feet round to stop the low shot.

Clearly having a good day at the office, Laura wasn't finished yet and followed in on a short corner at close range to make it 2-0 in the first 15 minutes.

At times it felt like Caradon had acres of space across the park and made sure they took advantage of this, there was plenty of running but they got caught on one counter attack as CSM's forward ran towards the D scoring from a brilliant reverse stick strike.

Thankfully this just seemed to spur the yellow team on and Charlotte Tamblyn in current top form grabbed a goal herself from open play.

The team went into the half time break 3-1 up. Having learnt from previous games, Caradon 2s didn't want to lose this lead and tightened up their marking particularly on the obviously talented CSM forward. They didn't get many more chances but Lynn Oxenham in goal made a spectacular high save to stop any comeback.

Abi Fulford was next on the scoresheet, twisting and turning her way into the D and finishing some great play from the back line to the front attack. Joint players of the match Claire Brown in defence and Laura up front were both in impressive form, Claire finding space to run into to set up chances in the final quarter. One such assist found Charlotte who dinked it beyond the keeper. But it was Laura who topped off a fantastic afternoon for the team completing her hat track to make the final score 6-1.

Caradon travel to Truro this weekend as they aim to maintain this rejuvenated new year form.
