Match Report |
After last weeks confident display, Caradon travelled to Penzance looking to increase thier seasons point tally.
Penzance, however, had ideas of thier own and started the match playing a high press and having good possession of the ball. Caradon uncharacteristically struggled to get the ball out of thier defensive halve. The game was turning into a physical battle with the home team coming out slightly on top while Caradon, although under pressure were hoping for a turning moment.
Penalty corners for both teams came in flurries and while Caradons defensive line dealt with any threats to thier goal it was Caradon who broke the deadlock when a Bizzie Dinnis effort towards goal was deftly deflected over the line by Molly Walsh.
The first half continued to be a scrappy affair until Caradon were awarded another penalty corner on the stroke of half time. A Walsh/Walsh combination saw Mollys' drag flick deflected in brilliantly by sister Libby Walsh on the post.
The half time talk came at the right time for the visitors, a time to re focus and get back to playing the Caradon way. With increased intensity in thier play, Caradon were finding more in roads. Player of the match Libby Walsh showed great tenacity and vision and slowly turned the screw on a now desperate Pz team. Dinnis latched on to a miss shot from Clare Poad to make it 3-0 and it should have been game over, however Pz showed great spirit and continued to push for a goal of thier own. The centre of the pitch was marshalled by Clare Mitchell and Beth Harris and Caradon played out the rest of the game in control and happy to secure the 3 points.
Not the best performance but again team spirit shine through to get the win and continue thier good run of form.
Next week Caradon entertain Plymouth University at Lux Park 12.30 start.
