Match Report

Caradon restarted thier league campaign with an away win against a strong Exe team.
The game started well for both teams with plenty of quality hockey on show. Both teams attacking lines were met with strong defending and clear cut chances were few and far between for both teams.
Sometimes tight games can be cagey and unexciting, but both teams were giving everything and trying new ways to break down the opponents defence making it a good game for the spectators.
With the game goalless at half time, the result looked certain for a draw, but Caradon always seem to find a way. Player of the match, GK Helen Delbridge made some great saves and increased the confidence that Caradon would find a way to break the deadlock. Bizzie Dinnis latched on to a through ball from Emma Gliddon, committed the keeper and finished from the tightest of angles.
Caradon could have held back but continued to search for the second. Clare Poad hit the post from a Molly Walsh cross, a Dinnis shot cleared off the line (just) but finally Libby Walsh got the ball over the line to make it 2-0.
This performance proved how far this team have come in the first half of the season. Playing composed hockey and defending as a complete unit the team look well balanced and nicely positioned in the league for a promising second half of the season.
This Saturday they make the long trip to Shepton Mallet, looking to continue thier good form.
