Match Report | Caradon 2s knew they were in for a tough match as unbeaten and high scoring Duchy visited a very wet, cold and windy Lux Park on Saturday. Due to an injury the pre-planned formation had to be adapted at the last minute and with Duchy the more switched on from the first whistle, Caradon were completely caught off guard and out played as the visitors scored 3 goals in the first quarter. Their slick passing and long balls to one lone but skillful striker in the D, they simply cut through the Caradon side with ease. Downhearted but not out, Caradon reshuffled again and with some much needed subs in the tiring weather they calmed the game and themselves to take a bit more control and get back to playing their game. A much needed breather and gathering of the team at half time, enabled the players to regroup and discuss what needed to be improved for the second half. Gaining more of the ball and possession for a good 15 minutes was rewarded with a slick short corner, finished by Neve Hunn. But the celebrations were short lived as Duchy once again turned with a quick counter attack to make it 4-1. Unfortunately two injuries to Caradon players in quick succession saw the home team lose their subbing options in the last 10 minutes and Duchy’s dominance took advantage of two players not at 100% and scored two more goals, ending the game a convincing 6-1. It was a frustrating game for the team and with emotions running high it just goes to show what it means to the group. They travel over the river to play Plymouth University on Saturday in the last league game before the Christmas break and with chins back up aim to get back to winning ways. |
