Match Report |
Caradon travelled to bottom of the table Teign and came away with a comfortable 6-1 win.
After a delayed start, Caradon set a good tempo and attacked straight from the first whistle. The home team were struggling to deal with Caradons' pacey attack. A desperate attempt to clear the ball only managed to find Clare Poad who bundled the ball over the line with the help of the unbalanced keeper. 1-0 soon became 2-0 when Bizzie Dinnis scored in a similar fashion.
With Caradon missing regular squad members the team had to adjust but Lucy Kay and returning player, Molly Walsh settled in to thier holding midfield roles with confidence and were the foundation for the team to attack.
A flowing move started by Saffie Cripps on the left led to a shot by Dinnis which was well saved. The rebound off the keeper was cooly picked up by Poad who slotted home from a tight angle.
Just before the half time whistle, Teign scored against the run of play to give them a glimmer of hope going into the second half.
Caradon re focused on thier game plan and soon re established thier 3 goal cushion when a Clare Mitchell strike was deflected over the line from 2 yards by Walsh.
Mitchell and Libby Walsh were combining well and along with Lucy Lee-Smith maintained good possession of the ball.
Goal of the day came from another Poad/Dinnis combination. An ariel ball into the circle was met by Dinnis who scored on the second attempt.
Caradons defence stood firm with any attacks that came thier way and looked completely in control at all times.
With the game drawing to a close, Dinnis completed her hat trick after a well worked penalty corner routine.
This week Caradon entertain Newquay who are also on a good run of form, at Lux Park 2pm.
