Match Report

On Saturday Ladies 3’s played recently promoted Truro 1’s and the outcome was a fair result, 1-1 Draw.  Caradon were fully aware this young and united team were not to be dismissed according to the league statistics.

On the first whistle Caradon played the ball forward and caught their opponents slightly off guard. This attacking momentum continued for the first quarter.  From their after it was end to end hockey with all players having an active role in what was quite a challenging game.

With helpful instructions from captain Sharon Jeffery  and side line supporters Lilly Maudsley was a great asset to the defensive back line.  Five minutes before the half time whistle, Caradon’s wing player Karenza Bunt skilfully found her way into the D and picked up a tidy goal.  Karenza, Caradon’s youngest player on the pitch was nominated by her team as Player of the Match for scoring the first and only goal.

The game was full of drama with a few green cards and at times scrappy play from the yellow shirts. A handful of short corners were issued to both teams with no success.  Caradon the away team were caught out on occasions by the bumpy pitch as they were unable to pick up some bouncing balls.

A goal in the second half from Truro seen the home team equalise. Caradon settled and pushed forward with the aim to bag the second goal in the final quarter.  Despite the teams best efforts this was not to be.  This may not have been Caradon’s neatest and most well executed game so far, but yet again it demonstrates the teams strength and determination.  Good luck for next week ladies.
