Match Report

Caradon entertained top of the table, ISCA, who before the match boasted an unbeaten record and a +23 goal difference.

The game started at a frantic pace and before the visitors had touched the ball, Caradon attacked down the left and immediately were awarded a penalty corner. A Libby Walsh pin point injection was stopped by Clare Mitchell for Bizzie Dinnis to drag flick past the helpless keeper. Caradon were setting the early tempo with crisp passing and assertive attacking phases of play. Another penalty corner awarded and this time it was Clare Poad who converted with a powerful strike in the bottom left hand corner.
ISCA we're on the ropes and holding on but Caradon were in no mood to slow things down. A slick team counter attack saw Caradon score the goal of the game. With 4 passes from a defensive corner to find Mitchell at the top of the circle, drawing the keeper and unselfishly passing to Poad to score her second of the game.
Saffy Cripps was finding great space on the left and combined well with Dinnis to create a chance for Walsh to grab the 4th goal of the half, an unstoppable strike right in the corner.
The half time whistle came to the rescue for ISCA who used the break well to regroup and change tactics. It was now the turn of Caradons' defence to shine. Strong tackles and sheer determination to limit entry in the circle denied the now threatening student team many clear chances. Player of the match, Helen Dellbridge, was in superior form. Her goal keeping was text book and it was a mis hit that eventually dirtied the clean sheet.

Caradon were ruthless in the counter attack. Walsh breaking up play and feeding Dinnis for her second of the day before turning provider for Poad to complete her hat trick late in the game.

A brilliant team effort, with everyone understanding thier role in the team, resulting in another 3 points and a win that will send a clear message of intent to the rest of the league.
Next week Caradon travel to Teignmouth hoping to build on this momentum and continue to play complete team hockey.
