Match Report |
A very close match this weekend for the men's 2's with a 1-1 draw that could have and nearly did, go either way. Caradon opened the scoring with Martyn Bevins scoring a brilliant goal from a short corner. Duchy had their first team keeper playing and his skill was evident throughout with fantastic save after save frustrating the Caradon attack. Duchy equalised soon after and we remained in that position for the rest of the match. It felt quite significantly that the majority of decisions were going against us which spoilt the feel of the game a bit but we do have the opportunity to play them at home with less partisan umpires. There were many cards issued on both sides and sadly Ben Reynolds had his green card upgraded to yellow for 'umpire coaching' from the sideline. Fantastic performances today from James North, Joel Tamblyn, Ben Reynolds (and his albatros reach, winning numerous contests) Ben P-R for speed both on and off the ball and also for Ted Dyer the man of the match for being solid and dependable throughout and great personal skill. All in all we should be pleased enough with a draw but look forward to the re-match.
