Match Report

After the half term break of last week, Caradon were keen to get back to business when they took on fellow league newcomers, Bridgewater, at a rainy Lux Park.
Staright from the first whistle, Bridgewater set thier stall out showing that they were prepared for a physical battle. With strong challenges coming from all players, Caradon had to think smart and they did this with a quickly taken free hit in the attacking third. A lovely combination play between Saffy Cripps and Claire Mitchell set Bizzie Dinnis free towards the top of the circle and her goal bound shot took no prisoners.
Caradon pushed forward relentlessly, and with Player of the match, Dinnis in the form of her life the score was soon 3-0. A penalty corner routine and another open play goal made up the hat trick.
Bridgewater did grab a goal just before the half time break when a defensive error in the center of the circle gifted thier center forward with a relatively simple goal.
The second half was more of the same. With Caradons strong defence winning thier battles and the midfield working hard to avoid the crunching tackles, the ball was being played in the attacking areas of the pitch. Libby Walsh and Reenie Hodge created good chances on the right with Dinnis claiming her 4th and Mitchell sliding in at the far post to get her name on the goal sheet. Beth Harris scored after a pull back from a Clare Poad, her shot left the keeper no chance.
With the team tiring, the visitors had the occasional counter attack but Emma Gliddon was in no mood to let anyone pass, putting in an exceptional performance at right back.
Another important 3 points for the improving Caradon will give much needed confidence before they face league leaders ISCA at Lux park on Saturday, 2pm start.
