Women's 3rd XI Vs CSOM 1

Ladies 3's were delighted to finish with a 6-0 win against Camborne School of Mines on the weekend.  In Quarter one Caradon picked up their first goal from a well planned short corner routine, goal scorer Jo Maudsley. Moments before the half time whistle after a free hit out Abi Larigo spotted an opportunity to find the back post.  The second half Caradon lost a little shape but this was soon rectified with pivot player (Player of the Match) Kerryn Walsh giving her team clear instructions.  Mid player Jess Berry full of energy and enthusiasm secured goal 3 in minute 38. 

A defensive short corner seen a penalty flick awarded to CSofM after a Caradon player stopped the ball on the line with her body.  Keeper Anna Gubbins successfully kicked it out and kept it a clean sheet for Caradon.

Caradon took away from a previous game the strength of their opponents press.  Similar to the well experienced Bodmin team the ladies carefully positioned themselves to mean it was all but impossible for CSofM to find a gap and pass through on any hit outs. 

A long ball found Jo Maudsley who created something out of nothing to give goal 4.  Driving play from the right wing seen the ball passed to up front player Vanessa Scott who popped in goal number 5.  CSofM did not drop their heads and continued to challenge further attacks.  This young squad were clearly a well united team with so much to give.  A penalty flick was awarded to Caradon and Jo Maudsley stepped forward and she did not disappoint.  Jo Maudsley picked up her hattrick, the whistle blew and Caradon Ladies drove away from Penryn pleased with the result.

Next week is set to be a lively afternoon as Ladies 3 face Ladies 2’s in a cup game at home.
