Women's 2nd XI Vs Truro 1

Still brimming with confidence after their impressive game last week, Caradon 2s welcomed Truro to Lux Park on a blustery and wet Saturday afternoon.

Captain Claire Brown asked for more of the same in this week's match: quick passing, working for each other and goals, and the game very much started by ticking all three boxes. Caradon dominated play from the start and a short pass from a Truro defender on their 16 yard hit out was intercepted by Helen Manley who took it into the D and slotted home for a 1-0 lead.

The second goal came shortly after, a well worked piece of play up the park found in form striker Laura Hill in front of the goal. She took the ball around the keeper and pushed it over the line. As possession continued the Caradon defence had little to do but clear up Truro's optimistic long balls.

A few short corner opportunities came Caradon's way and with a number of routines in their plans, it was a straight strike from Neve Hunn that rebound off the keeper but quick thinking Neve jumped on the ball and ensured the 3-0 lead. 

The second half was a different affair as the home side found themselves on the back foot. They still had plenty of chances but the Truro keeper stopped every shot. They had a few quick counter attack chances but Lynn Oxenham in the Caradon goal pulled off some brilliant quick reaction saves to maintain the clean sheet. 

The midfield pushed forward, player of the match Carina Hodge determined and strong in winning back balls and distributing out wide. But as the clock ran out there were no more goals and the game finished 3-0. 

With a weekend break in the league for a cup match against Caradon 3s, they return to Trelawney Division 1 hockey the Saturday after with an early pushback against Plymouth Marjons.
