Match Report

Caradon recorded back to back wins with a 4-1 victory over Plymouth University on Saturday.
Confidence was high before the first whistle and Caradon started to apply pressure to the students' defence. A slick attack on the right hand side of the pitch saw Bizzie Dinnis beat 2 defenders before passing the perfect pass for Clare Poad to steer home and take the lead.
Caradon were pressing hard as a team and the home team struggled to clear their lines. Libby Walsh intercepted a loose pass and fed Dinnis who made no mistake with a crisp strike to find the bottom corner.
Midfielders Clare Mitchell and Saffy Cripps were enjoying the space in the center of the pitch and linked well with the forwards, creating chances and winning penalty corners. Plymouth were under intense pressure and it was soon 3-0 when Dinnis scored from the top of the circle.
Julia Eldridge was in dominant form playing in the screen position and gained an assist after winning the ball in midfield and making the perfect through ball to find Dinnis. With still lots to do, Dinnis beat her defender before rounding the keeper to slot home and secure a first half hat trick and well deserved player of the match award.
Whatever the Plymouth coach said at half time, the students came out like a different team and applied a good team press of their own. Caradon struggled to clear their lines and had to depend on some great saves by Helen Delbridge to keep a clean sheet until the last 5 minutes of the game when  the students got the consolation goal they deserved.
The game was definitely one of 2 halves and as good as Caradon were in the first, there will be much to learn from the disappointing second half. However another good 3 points gained and an excellent first half for this ever improving team will give them belief of more point when they entertain Bridgewater in two weeks time.
