Match Report

Saturday showed another great example of the ladies 3’s grit and determination.  Bodmin a strong and experienced team finished with a 3-1 victory but it certainly did not come easy for them as Caradon held strong.

Great to have Amber Jeffery back on the pitch putting in those timely tackles in left back position.  This was a challenging game for Caradon but they certainly dug deep.

The team were uplifted when mid player Kirsty Merrin scored an incredible goal in the second half.  She pulled away from the base line and found the perfect angle to pass the keeper and find a winning pocket.

Bodmin scored their last two goals from a strong hit from near the half way line where a player got a stick on the ball just inside the D to make it count. Then a final goal from a short corner after many failed attempts.  Thanks to the tight defensive back line, alongside their calm and collected keeper.

Junior player Kerenza Bunt did not allow a total wipe out from Bodmin keeper to phase her.  The wing player got up, shook it off and played on.  As a result of this unintentional collision Caradon were awarded a penalty short corner, but were unsuccessful in finding the back of the net.

Player of the match Vanessa Scott encouraged the team to play some quick balls and picked up the pace. This energy was what was needed with one sub and the burn in the legs come the last quarter.

Well done ladies, great effort and good luck next week as you face Camborne School of Mines at Penryn.

Finally, as the season is now in full swing from a players prospective we would like to take this opportunity to thank captains, coaches and umpires. Plus all those committee members behind scenes, the friends and family on the sidelines and not forgetting the photographers who also endure all conditions come rain or shine.  A few weeks into the season it is already apparent this club is made up of some incredible people.
