Match Report

Camborne SOM - 0

Caradon Ladies 2 - 8

Caradon Ladies 2s travelled down to Penryn to face Camborne SOM on a sunny but blustery Saturday morning.

Camborne had come down to Trelawney 1 from South this season so the visitors were unsure what to expect with no previous game experience to compare it to. However they had little to be concerned about and started the game at an excellent, fast paced tempo. One-two passes up the park created early chances, but equally they were allowed space to run with the ball and cause a nuisance to the Camborne defence.

Laura Hill got her first goal of the day as a nicely worked bit of play from the back line to front players ended with a strong shot past the diving keeper.

This was quickly followed up by Katie Fear getting on the scoresheet with a great solo effort. Caradon were flying high and it became clear it would be a high scoring game as Natalie Ridgers got on the end of a cross infront of goal and made no mistake. With Laura converting a short corner, the visitors found themselves 4-0 up at half time.

The break could have been time for Caradon to sit back but they were hungry for more goals with everyone in the midfield now taking shots and chances. Nat was once again right time, right place letting one fly into the goal but it was player of the match Laura who grabbed the first hat trick of the day to make it 6-0.

Caradon started to keep ball a bit more and be patient, something picked up in training this week, but with Nat and Katie both on firing form they topped off the day with a further goal each to finish it 8-0 to the good. The defence had little to do all afternoon but when faced with any potential attack they thwarted chances and cut out passes before once again pushing the team forward to goal.

Without the brilliant shot stopping from the Camborne goalkeeper the score would have been well into double figures. Caradon can be delighted with the performance, the freedom they created and slick passes got them a convincing win. They welcome Truro to Lux Park this Saturday as they look to continue their strong start.
