Match Report

Caradon entertained Penzance at lux park, looking for their first win in Division 1 and they got it with an emphatic 7-1 victory.
Caradon started confidently and were soon 1-0 up after Bizzie Dinnis crossed for her strike partner, Clare Poad, to finish past the keeper. 5 minutes later it was Poad who turned provider with a cross goal pass to find Clare Mitchell who finished a great team move.
Penzance continued to push and were awarded a penalty corner, which despite Amy Greenbank sacrificing her hand on the goal line, the ball found its way over the line to make it 2-1. The next goal proved to be vital as the game hung in the balance briefly and it came the way of a Poad assist and a clinically finished goal by Dinnis.
Caradon were enjoying themselves and took control of the game in all areas of the pitch. Just before the half time whistle the home team were awarded a penalty strike after a Pz foot on the line prevented a certain goal. Dinnis stepped up, and calmly slotted the ball bottom right corner.
The half time talk was buoyant but focused and Caradon were in no mood to let the visitors back in the game. Julia Eldridge, Molly Walsh and Beth Harris combined well to provide a water tight screen and protected their defence form any penetrating breaks. Player of the match, Daisy Hunn, stepped in front of her player brilliantly and turned defence into dangerous counter attacks.
Molly Walsh scored a thunder strike of a goal from the top of the circle to increase the lead further before Beth Harris got on the score sheet to tap in on the far post.
Cards of various colours were issued to both teams, but it was Caradon who dealt with the disruption the best and continued to manage the game well.
Dinnis completed her hat trick when she latched on to a perfect threw ball from Saffy Cripps, rounded the keeper to complete Penzances' misery.
A truly great performance from the whole team and a warning sign to rest the rest of the league of what Caradon are capable off. Next week they travel to Lipson to take on Plymouth University.
