Match Report | First game of the season saw Caradon Mens 1st XI travel down to newly promoted, high flying Penzance.
From the whistle the intensity was higher than expected. Neither team settling into the game but exchanging attacks. After a 20 minute stalemate broke with Caradon opened the scoring. Tyler Walsh rounding the front runner from a short corner, slipping it in the bottom corner.
The lead didn’t last long, Penzance drew level, scoring a short corner of their own. The pace of play dipped as both teams began to tire before the half time whistle.
Second half started and the high pace was back. Both teams having opportunities to take the lead, however Penzance were the ones to score, once again getting the better of the Caradon short corner defence.
Not a team to sit back and lose quietly Caradon continued to press, their persistence paying off with Tyler getting his second and levelling the game once again. Both teams continued to fight for the win, Penzance picking up a couple green cards in the process, but the final whistle blew and the Cornish clash finished 2-2. |
