Caradon Men's II's vs Devonport Services III's

A very positive friendly for the II's. Playing with a couple of very notable extra players against a 'reinforced' Services team made for a very even match. Caradon's will to win and positive attitude were the things that tipped the balance. Caradon kept their shape and demonstrated great positional play with many players playing outside of their preferred positions. Chris Bentley did all that was asked of him, which was good to see. Ted Dyer opened the scoring with a positive strike from the middle of the D. Caradon's defence including George, Thomas and Paul Rowe, along with Liam Champion and Thomas Turpin proved to be way too much for the Devonport offence, consistently thwarting well-choreographed attacks. Solid mid-field control led to several opportunities for the Caradon forwards, with Martyn Bevins in 'dancing' through countless tackles to score two great solo goals. Services pulled one back, which rattled Caradon for a few minutes, but they settled again and managed to slot one more home by serial diver Jon PR. Services only received one green card, which on balance was probably lucky...

Really happy with the performance of the whole team, including subs! With all of the young members of the team growing in confidence throughout the match. Well done everyone. Man of the match - Martyn Bevans.
