Women's 1st XI Vs Kingsbridge and Salcombe

Caradon finished their fantastic league campaign with a 6-2 win away to Kingsbridge, a result which means the team has gone a whole season unbeaten and only dropped 2 points all season. 
With Covid robbing the team of players on Saturday morning, Caradon travelled with only 11 players and in windy conditions players could have tired easily. Determination and team spirit would be needed to break down the stubborn Kingsbridge defence but the league champions always find a way.

Good work from player of the match, Molly Walsh, on the right resulting in good combination play with Bizzie Dinnis and then a nice pass found Clare Poad who lifted her shot above the keepers head to break the deadlock. Caradon were beginning to find their groove, Saffy Cripps was enjoying lots of space and her clever play led to numerous chances on goal. Dinnis grabbed her first of the game finishing in her reverse and Poad scored another after a great through ball from Walsh. 
Kingsbridge rallied briefly by converting 2 penalty corners but Caradon were always in control and if anything the increased pressure made their decision making and movement of the ball even better. The whole team were playing as one unit and carving open the home team's defence. Dinnis completed her hat trick and scored her 32nd goal of the season after tapping in a good move on the right. Walsh completed the scoring from a well rehearsed penalty corner routine. 
Special mention to Emma Gliddon who stepped in to play right back and looked completely at ease with some good interceptions and timely tackles. 
Focus now switches to the county cup when they take on Falmouth 2s in the quarter final at Lux Park 11.45.
