Match Report

Caradon ladies 1st team celebrates promotion from Divsion 2 with a dominant 10-1 win over Tiverton.
With 4 league games remaining Caradon had already clinched the title and were keen to celebrate in front of the their home supporters and with a full squad available, spirits were high before the first whistle.

Despite the obvious gulf in quality of the two teams, Caradon struggled to find their groove and it wasn't until mid way through the first half that player of the match, Saffy Cripps finished of a good move to break the deadlock. This was the catalyst for Caradon to begin to play their passing hockey and Tiverton were left chasing shadows. Bizzie Dinnis converted a penalty flick and Clare Poad scored to make the score 3-0 at half time.
The second half was a fantastic display of attacking hockey by the league champions. Libby Walsh, Emma Gliddon, Beth Harris all got their name on goal sheet as well as Dinnis adding her second and Poad claiming her hat trick. Molly Walsh scored from a perfectly executed drag flick routine from a penalty corner but the chance for a clean sheet was missed when Tiverton scored a late consolation goal.

Since forming 15 years ago, Caradon have pushed for promotion but have always just fallen short. With a team consisting of 5 U21 players who have progressed through the successful junior programme at the club, this team have won the league at a canter, so far undefeated and scoring a massive 96 goals with still 3 games to play. An amazing achievement and one that will continue to be celebrated for the remaining games in both the league and county cup campaigns.
Next season will be an exciting chance to test how good this team is, they will relish the challenge and continue to believe in the mantra 'be better'
