Women's 1st XI Vs Bude

Caradon clinched the Division 2 South title after a 5-1 win at Bude on Saturday.

With a few members of the squad still unavailable, Caradon knew that would have to work extra hard against an inconsistent Bude team. 
The game couldn't have started any better for Caradon as Ellen Spencer scored within the first 5 minutes. A composed finish after good build up play from Molly Walsh. Quickly after, Bude equalised and their game found new confidence. Caradon were unusually flat footed and struggled to find their competitiveness. It was an even contest but Walsh managed to secure the lead just before half time to make for an honest half time team talk. 
With renewed determination, Caradon started to stamp their authority on the fixture. Player af the match, Beth Harris, was dominant in the middle of the park and good decision making led to numerous attacks on goal.
A disallowed goal from a penalty corner was the catalyst to push Caradon on. With the tempo increasing with every phase of play, Caradon were now playing close to their usual pace of hockey. Clare Poad scored from open play and Walsh slotted home her second of the day. Bude were now being completely out played and the defence of Batty, Kay and Hunn were largely untested in the second half. Wingers, Spencer and Gliddon worked tirelessly and were always an outlet to help keep the pitch stretched. 
A fitting final goal from skillfull Clare Mitchel left the score at 5-1 and another win for the now newly crowned champions!
